Enrique Igoa Mateos
\n<\/strong>Composer, Professor of Musical Analysis and Musical researcher
\nHe studied piano, percussion and composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, later on with a Fulbright scholarship at the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music, both in Boston (USA).<\/p>\n

He has also attended the International Course of Contemporary Music in Darmstadt (Germany), with professors such as B. Ferneyhough, H. Halbreich, M. Feldmann and W. Rihm; to a jazz course with Pedro Iturralde; to several courses of analysis of contemporary music with conductor Arturo Tamayo; to a course of structure and function in Classicism with Prof. W. Caplin at the University of Alcal\u00e1 de Henares; and to an algorithmic composition course with Clarence Barlow in C.D.M.C.<\/p>\n

He holds the Title of Professor of Piano and the Title of Higher Professor of Composition, by the Madrid Royal Conservatory; a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and History, a Diploma in Advanced Studies and a Doctorate in Hispanic Music from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (see Details of Education in Full CV).<\/em><\/p>\n

He has been professor of Acoustics and Accompaniment at the Professional Conservatory of Le\u00f3n (1984-86). Between 1986 and 1993 he was professor of Musical Analysis at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid; during eight years he has been professor of Harmony, Counterpoint, Musical Analysis and Composition of the Professional Conservatory Arturo Soria. From October of 2001 has been professor of Musical Analysis of the Real Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid. During the academic year 2018-19 he was professor of Composition, Orchestration and Extended Techniques. From September 2019 is Emeritus Professor of Composition and Musical Analysis.<\/span> (see Full CV).<\/p>\n

As a visiting professor, he has taught courses, lectures and presentations on musical analysis and related topics at major conservatories in Spain, at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de Alcal\u00e1 de Henares, Fundaci\u00f3n Universidades de Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Beethovenshaus (Bonn) and Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik (K\u00f6ln) in Germany, at the Conservatorio Superior de M\u00fasica in Bari and at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali \u00abVincenzo Bellini\u00bb in Caltanissetta, both in Italy (see section COURSES AND LECTURES and Full CV).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He has published almost 50 papers on topics related to the analysis, theory and history of music in specialized reviews; several dossiers around the opera for the courses of the Universidad de Alcal\u00e1 de Henares; twenty book reviews; a book dedicated to the instrumental work of \u00c1ngel Barja and another (his doctoral thesis) focused on the analysis of sonatas by Antonio Soler, along with an edition of his unpublished sonatas (see section PUBLICATIONS and Full CV).<\/em><\/p>\n

In his creative aspect, Enrique Igoa is the author of works for piano, guitar, organ, harmonica and accordion; voice and piano, flute and piano, flute and guitar, flute and harpsichord, violin and marimba, violoncello and piano, viola and piano, guitar and accordion, piano and accordion; trio with piano; string quartet, guitar quartet; ensembles with several instrumental combinations; voice, piano and electronics; video and electronics; percussion group; a capella choir, choir and organ, choir and orchestra; big-band; string orchestra; chamber orchestra; symphony orchestra; violin and orchestra, guitar and orchestra, as well as a ballet and a stage play for three singers, three instrumentalists and electronics (see WORK CATALOGS and Full CV).<\/em><\/p>\n

He has received numerous commissions from soloists, chamber groups, choirs, orchestras, festivals and institutions in Spain and in other countries. He has won several prizes for composition and mentions in contests in Spain, Switzerland, Czech Republic, France and the United States.<\/p>\n

He was a founding member of the AMCC (Madrid Association of Composers) in 1998 and its vice-president until 2000, as well as a member of the Board of Directors (2016-2024). He has also been a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal S\u00famula (Musical Theory and Analysis) of the SATMUS (Society for Musical Analysis and Theory) since May 2021.<\/p>\n

His works have been premiered and performed in Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, England, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela,\u00a0South Korea, China and the United States.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
